Super Junior, BEAST, MBLAQ K-Pop Singers Drive Vietnamese Fans Into Ecstasy

Vietnam National Convention Center in Ha Noi was filled with 3,500 fans cheering and waving for the Korean singers that have gathered on March 15, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Korea.

The music festival ‘Vietnam Korea Festival’ held by Viet Nam Television and KBS channel featured famous K-Pop singers such as Super Junior, BEAST, MBLAQ, CNBLUE, and Davichi. There have been visits of Super Junior, 2NE1 as a single team visiting Vietnam however this is a first time to hold a large concert such as this.

The first stage was opened by BEAST’s ‘Fiction’ on 7:30PM local time, as soon as the music began some fans arose from their seats dancing to the beat of the song. In the chorus of ‘Shock’ fans followed the exact beat shouting ‘shock’ the repetitive words. CNBLUE’s ‘I’m a Loner’ and IU’s ‘Good Day,’ ‘You And I’ had the whole audience sang in together. Followed by Secret’s ‘Shy Boy,’ ‘Moonlight Starlight,’ ‘Love is Move’ and two members of Davichi performed a Vietnamese song with Vietnamese singer Ho Quynh Huong.

K-Pop’s excellent dances, young and eye-catching singers, impressive costumes and popular hits have captivated the audience for the entire two-hour program.

The last performance was reserved for Super Junior the crowd voice seems to overpower the song. When performing ‘Sorry Sorry’ all the audience arose and applauded. After the performance finished the Super Junior bowed to the audience in return there were shouts of ‘Thank you (in Korean).’ One middle school student a member of Super Junior’s fan club mentioned ‘It feels like a dream that I can see Super Junior in real life. This has made me interested in Korean and Korean culture. I am listening to K-Pop every day.”

The event was held to mark the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the countries therefore concert was a free show. The tickets were distributed out to various places. There were still a large number of fans that gathered who were not able to enter the concert. It was reported that at the Grand Plaza Hotel where the artists stayed had fans shouting all day.

The recorded concert will be broadcasted on VTV and KBS channel at a later date.
