Though he’s recognized by millions around the world as one of the members of Super Junior, Yesung revealed he’s had some misidentification made by the foreign press because of his real name.
On the November 6 episode of SBS’ Strong Heart, Yesung appeared as a guest and revealed he had once been confused as one of the sons of former North Korean leader, Kim Jong Il.
Yesung shared, “One famous press in Switzerland reported that I was the third son of North Korea’s Kim Jong il.”
He added, “When the reports went out, my picture was included in newspapers in Germany and Switzerland thought it had nothing to do with me.”
The reason for the confusion was revealed to be because of Yesung’s real name, Kim Jong Oon. With very little information at the time on Kim Jong Il’s third son, Kim Jong Un, the similar-sounding names resulted in Yesung being mistaken as Kim Jong Il’s son.
Published with the reports was a picture of Yesung from Super Junior’s first album.
