K-pop stars rock Sepang

SEPANG: The first day of the Samsung Galaxy's 27th Golden Disk Awards that took place last night at Sepang International Circuit turned out to be a large-scale concert for K-Pop fans here.

Twelve of K-Pop's biggest stars, namely Beast, KARA, SHINee, Super Junior, EXO, FT Island, CN Blue, Juniel, BTOB, Infinite, B1A4 and 4Minute, each gave performances that left around 10,000 fans screaming.

The award ceremony, dubbed as the Korean Grammy Awards, gives recognition to South Korean artists based on the total sales of their albums and digital music downloads.

International K-Pop sensation Super Junior bagged the most awards, namely Album Of The Year, Golden Disk Award Album and MSN Southeast Asia Award.

This is the third time the group has won Album Of The Year award.

SHINee, Infinite, FT Island, CN Blue, 4Minute, KARA, Beast and B1A4 all took home the Golden Disk award each.

Other big winners include SHINee (Most Popular Star) and CN Blue and KARA (Malaysia's Favourite groups).

Tonight, nine more awards will be handed out, and 13 more K-Pop acts will make their appearance: G-Dragon, T-Ara, Miss A, Lee Hi, Ailee, Epik High, BAP, Teen Top, f(x), K.Will, Huh Gak, Secret and Sistar.

The prestigious event is the biggest K-Pop event to be held in Malaysia. This is the second time it is held outside of Korea. Last year it was held in Osaka.
